I've been a member of NAPCP for a couple of years now, and as far as I know, there are no other local members, including Southside Hampton Roads in Virginia as well as Northeastern North Carolina. Therefore, whenever there is a gathering, there is nothing local. I've never attended one!
What is a gathering and what is an ambassador, you may ask?
From the NAPCP website:
"An extension of the National Association of Professional Child Photographers, the NAPCP Ambassador Program takes an active role in building thriving communities of artists committed to growing their skills, their artistry, and their business. NAPCP Ambassadors are literally the eyes, ears, and face of the global association, kindling personal relationships and connections on a local level. By fostering connections and conversations, NAPCP Ambassadors enable the compassionate collaboration that is a hallmark of the NAPCP vision."
You may also be wondering what any of this has to do with SYNC! Well, I will share more about SYNC at a later date as I am still processing it all. It was an amazing experience, leaving me feeling truly blessed in so many ways!
One of the things I left SYNC with is a full heart, thanks to the incredible people I met. We are continuing to grow those relationships, but it has made me realize just how lonely my career can be. I spend much of my time in my studio alone, working on business matters - the behind the scenes stuff I so love. I enjoy this as an introvert! However, I've come to realize how much I crave interaction with others in the industry as well. I am a very open person. Most photographers I've met will, I am sure, agree. I love sharing my thoughts and ideas with others, and I love hearing from others as well. I meet with local photographer friends from time to time and always enjoy our time together.
And this is what the ambassador program with NAPCP is all about!
The NAPCP online community is very warm, encouraging, and uplifting. There is some amazing talent in this group of photographers. I'm honored to be a part of the organization as well as an ambassador!
I love people! I believe this helps me as a portrait photographer. As an ambassador for NAPCP, I look forward to bringing photographers together and sharing with each other our skills, artistry and business as a group! If you're a local photographer who may be interested in attending our first gathering March 18th, please let me know! I will happily send you some information.
